The AMS Engineering team employed Solidworks©, a 3D software, to meticulously blueprint the inlet and outlets, optimizing exhaust flow with smooth features and geometry. Utilizing 3D printing, they ensured OEM-level fitment before casting the very first article of the AMS VW MKVII Golf R Downpipe upgrade. Setting itself apart from competitors, this upgrade includes a laser-cut, form-fitted heat shield, safeguarding critical components like the ABS module and its plastic heat shielding situated near the downpipe. The AMS Golf R downpipes boast a 4mm thick cast stainless steel upper section, effectively retaining heat away from the engine bay. Crafted from robust 304 stainless steel through casting, these downpipes offer freedom from the design constraints of hand-fabricated construction.

The AMS MK7 Golf R Downpipe boasts an exceptionally wide mouth, precisely matching the turbine outlet's shape and size. This design enhances turbine efficiency and overall performance by creating a larger pressure ratio between the exhaust manifold and downpipe. With a long, gradual transition within the downpipe section, exhaust gases maintain velocity without experiencing a buildup of back pressure in the system. The AMS system comprises a fully widened 3" upper downpipe, midpipe, and a subtle transition pipe, seamlessly adapting to your factory exhaust components.

The AMS Performance VW MKVII Golf R Downpipe upgrade offers a more pronounced, throaty exhaust note under wide open throttle yet are quite subtle at idle. Our AMS Engineering Team created a spectrogram that helped them identify and prevent harmonic issues in the exhaust that create drone.
